What Is Chemotherapy & Radiation Transport?

Chemotherapy and radiation transport is specialized non-emergency medical transportation tailored to meet the unique physical, emotional, and schedule-critical demands of oncology care. Unlike standard ride-hailing services or basic taxi rides, specialized NEMT provides a protective, supportive environment for immunocompromised and deeply fatigued patients.

Oncology treatments present physical challenges that make independent driving or standard rides unsafe:

KM Comfort Carriers fills this gap with trained drivers who understand the physical nuances of oncology care, offering supportive assistance every step of the way.

Specialized Mobility Options

Every patient’s physical needs evolve throughout their cancer care journey. We offer three distinct levels of transport to ensure complete comfort and safety.

1. Wheelchair Transport

For patients who utilize a wheelchair full-time or require one due to post-treatment exhaustion, our specialized vans provide smooth, effortless travel.

2. Ambulatory Assistance

Many cancer patients can walk independently but experience sudden weakness, unsteadiness, or nausea following lengthy chemotherapy infusions.

3. Stretcher / Bed-to-Bed Transport

For patients who are bedridden, recovering from complex oncology surgeries, or too physically weak to sit upright during transit.

Why Choose KM Comfort Carriers for Oncology Trips?

Selecting the right transportation partner during cancer treatment brings peace of mind to both patients and family caregivers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a family member or caregiver ride along with the patient?

Yes. We encourage family members or personal caregivers to accompany the patient during treatment rides. There is no additional charge for one primary caregiver to ride along.

What if my chemotherapy infusion session runs longer than expected?

We understand that oncology treatments often experience unpredictable delays. Our dispatch team stays in communication with you or the clinic staff to adjust pickup timing seamlessly so you are never stranded.

How far in advance do I need to schedule recurring radiation trips?

We recommend setting up recurring schedules 3 to 5 days in advance. However, we always do our best to accommodate short-notice requests or unexpected treatment schedule changes.

Do you provide bed-to-bed transfers for stretcher patients?

Yes. Our trained crew performs full bed-to-bed transfers, safely moving the patient from their residence bed onto our hydraulic stretcher and into the care facility.

What payment methods are accepted for private-pay clients?

We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and electronic payments. Payment arrangements are confirmed prior to transit so there are no surprise fees.

Do drivers assist patients inside the building?

Yes. We provide complete door-through-door service. Your driver will assist you out of your home, into the vehicle, and walk you directly into the facility check-in desk.
